A GIS-Aided Soil Erosion potential-based solution to UP land Grant land allocation problem

ABSTRACT

A land use classification system based on soil erosion potential was developed for the UP Laguna-Quezon Land Grant (UP-LQLG). The Modified Universal Soil Loss Equation linked to a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) was used to generate the soil erosion potential of the area. Basically, soil erosion was used as the primary basis for evaluating the land capability of the area. The results of the study show that a GIS based soil erosion prediction could be a valuable tool for better land use planning and environmental protection.
